Half a hot dog cost Seattle Seahawks American football star Eugene Robinson $1,000, after he and team-mates Rick Mirer and Cortez Kennedy were caught trying to sneak a snack during a recent game. The three players were caught by coach Dennis Erickson after TV cameras showed the trio - who had left the field - attempting to furtively eat hot dogs.
Robinson, the team's defensive captain for the past three years, said he apologised to team president David Behring, the coaching staff and his team-mates.
"I had half a hot dog," Robinson said. "It was a pretty expensive hot dog." Erickson said the $3,000 in fines will be given to a school for homeless children in Seattle to pay for breakfasts and lunches - CH
